Johansson’s acting career began at the age of nine years when she landed a role in the 1994 movie “North”. As a child actor, she also appeared in small roles in the movies “Just Cause” and “If Lucy Fell”. Johansson’s first role as a lead character in a movie came with the 1996 film “Manny & Lo”. For this role, Johansson was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Lead Female. She kept making appearances in small roles in films like “Fall” and “Home Alone 3” before her career breakthrough came with the film “The Horse Whisperer” which was released in 1998. She gained further recognition in the black comedy film “Ghost World” (2001) that won her Best Supporting Actress award at the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards.
After being cast as a child actress for almost a decade, Scarlett landed her first adult role in the movies “Lost in Translation” and “Girl with a Pearl Earring”. Both movies were released in 2003 and both earned Johansson nominations for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress.
She even won the BAFTA for Lost in Translation. In 2010, Scarlett landed her most popular role to date, Black Widow, in the movie “Iron Man 2”. With this film, she also became a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) reprising the role in several MCU movies. For the movie, Johansson was nominated for two Teen Choice Awards and three People’s Choice Awards.
