Mila Markovna Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, on August 14, 1983. Her family decided to move to the U.S. when Mila was seven, so Mila and her brother would have more opportunities in the future. Mila’s family wasn’t poor, but they were still only allowed to bring $250 when they moved to LA. To make matters worse, Mila’s parents’ degrees weren’t transferable.
Mila’s acting career started with a Barbie commercial. She landed several more roles in commercials and guest appearances in shows like Days of Our Lives, Walker, Texas Ranger, and Baywatch.
At age 14, Mila applied to audition for That ‘70s Show. Even though the role explicitly asked for 18-year-olds, Mila lied her way into bagging one of her life’s best roles.
But the producers were convinced no one could play Jackie Burkhart as well as Mila. She even got tutored on-set so she could get her GED. A year later, Mila landed a role as the voice of Meg on Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane’s most successful animated comedy series. Kunis continues to voice Meg even today.
